Before we Begin
Let's have a brief chat. What do you want me to know? Your session starts with me listening and maybe asking a few easy questions. For example: Do you prefer...
- A light touch for a more relaxing experience
- Deeper work for a more therapeutic effect
- Responsive combination of both styles.
Before I sink my hands into your back I center myself, getting into a positive and nurturing mindset. I focus on the energy I want transmitted through my work.
Music
Quality work should have a quality soundtrack. I've had good massages where the experience was undermined by cheesy vaguely Asian or pan flute drivel.
I've created a playlist that is timed to be etherial and dreamy while I'm doing the most tender and relaxing work on your shoulders, scalp and face, then lighter and more colorful when I'm going deeper, waking up your quads. It shifts again when I'm working on your feet, so chill that you may drift off.
60/90 minutes means 60/90 minutes
Take all the time you need before and after the massage to disrobe, lace up, collect your thoughts and hydrate. You're paying for 60/90 minutes of my hands on you. Few of us get massages frequently enough. So when we do, every minute counts.
Heat
It's likely that your body temperature will start to lower as you relax and your heart rate slows. Additionally, evaporating lotion has a cooling effect. Cold muscles are counter productive to the work we're doing so you'll be on a heated table in a warm room.
Air
Before you arrive I scrub the air with a HEPA filter, then keep it running quietly during the session. I use a gentle fragrance-free detergent on your freshly laundered sheets. Please refrain using any fragrances before arriving so that we can keep the studio hypo-allergenic.
Lotion
By default I use a Biotone lotion made from Coconut, Apricot, Sesame, and Grapeseed oils. I like the way it glides with a bit of drag. It allows me to wring and manipulate with more friction and really warm up an area before going in deeper.
It is hypoallergenic, vegan, and not tested on animals. But best of all, it absorbs into your skin. So you can go straight from my massage - out to dinner. It doesn't leave that sticky feeling you get from oil.
But if you prefer the classic glide from traditional massage oil, just let me know. I have that too.
Dedicated Studio
I'm proud of the professional and comfortable space that I've created for this work.
One of the things I appreciate when getting a massage is a comfortable place to sit while I'm changing. I always feel more relaxed in a dedicated space than on a table in someone's bedroom or living room. My studio is full of original art, but still has a minimal modern vibe.
